Bikes, babes, and bears!
Spring in Yellowstone is probably its best kept secret. Fall is famous for bugling elk, winter for its wintry wonderland and over-the-snow travel by snowmobile and snowcoaches, and summer is best known for the large numbers of visitors from all over the world. Spring, on the other hand, is one of the quietest seasons when it comes to visitors. Combine spring biking with hiking in Yellowstone. There are numerous trails suitable for day hiking. Begin your hike by stopping at a ranger station or visitor center for information. Come early, stay late, bring your bikes or skates, and bring your family or your friends. This is a great opportunity to be the first to explore a new dimension of the beauty of Yellowstone in the springtime!

Okay, so not literally. We’re still feeling a few of the winter chills here in Western Montana, but there is one thing that IS heating up. The “Better Than” competition between Glacier and Yellowstone!! It’s been gaining speed and many people (564 at blog time) have cast their vote for their favorite national park in Montana.
But that’s not enough! We know more people than that have a keen love in their heart for one of our parks. Heck, maybe you love them both. Either way, tell us about it! Log on to www.better-than.com and tell us WHY you love GLACIER! (‘Cause I’m sure it’s your favorite. Wink.)
Happy voting! And in case you’re still undecided, look at this photo and be inspired!

Bowman Lake
I love Glacier. It’s as simple and as complicated as that. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains and spent a significant amount of time in the park when I was knee-high to a grasshopper. Maybe it’s the thrill of driving under the Weeping Wall and feeling the spray drench my face. Or maybe it’s the memories of paddling aimlessly in circles with my brother and sister in a big red canoe. Whatever it is…there’s no going back now. I’m giving my lovin’ to Glacier.
Need more convincing? Read below to see what others have to say about Glacier…
“Give a month at least to this precious reserve. The time will not be taken from the sum of your life. Instead of shortening, it will indefinitely lengthen it and make you truly immortal. Nevermore will time seem short or long, and cares will never again fall heavily on you, but gently and kindly as gifts from heaven.”
John Muir, Our National Parks (1901)
“The main thing is the whole thing. Which is why it seems to me that although Glacier lacks a logo-like defining attraction, it perhaps better than any other place defines the general purpose and value of our National Park System…a monument to the underlying forces of nature, not to the unusual features of it.”
Bill Gilbert, Glacier National Park: An American Place Life Magazine (September 1993)
“There is no highway which will give the seer, the lover of grandeur of the Creator’s handiwork, more thrills, more genuine satisfaction deep in his being, than will a trip over this road.”
Governor Frank H. Cooney, Dedication of the Sun Road (July 15, 1933)
